This week I started researching Global Collaboration Projects and how they affect the classroom. Global Collaborations Projects connect students to their peers from around the world to come together and learn a topic, solve a problem, and collaborate on a project. Global Collaboration Projects are connecting students around the world. Through Global Collaboration Projects, students are able to learn about different cultures, break down stereotypes, and gain a respect for those who are different from them. As a social science teacher, I was really intrigued by this teaching methodology, and would love to implement this into my own classroom. I would love to connect my students to their peers from another country and learn about their culture and vice versa. This would be a great way to get students involved and engaged with the material and really bring education to life. Through much planning and preparation, I believe this would be a hit! When students are able to see the material come to life and engage with another person whose life is very different from theirs, the learning process shifts and students forget they are learning. I am excited to learn more about this topic, and how I can implement it into my classroom.

Marc Prenky's work, Teaching Digital Natives: Partnering for Real Learning, is an essential guide for teaching the students of the future. Prensky dives into partnering pedagogy in the classroom and the implementation of technology among students. I really enjoyed the book, and will be using it a a reference for my future classroom. The classroom is changing, and today it is changing at a rapid rate due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The way students are learning has been turned completely upside. Students are now interacting with teachers via Zoom, through Google Classroom, and other online platforms. Prensky guides educators through the implementation of technology and through the transition of partnering pedagogy. Prensky provides strategies and methods to ease teachers in their task of mastering the 21st century classroom without having to master all of the new technology. Not only does the text provide strategies for the classroom, but it also inspires and reconnects educators to their students and their passions. I really enjoyed this book and will use it in the future.
Constructivism is the theory that students actively make their won knowledge and that reality is determined by the learner's experiences. A constructivist classroom is learner based rather than instructor based. The teacher acts as a mediator and guides students to knowledge rather than filling their heads with facts. In this type of classroom, students often work in group and relate the material to real world problems and events. As a future social science teacher, it would be very easy to implement the constructivist theory into my own classroom. History is very easy to relate to the real world and students can easily use past events to relate to what is going on in the world today. I also like that the teacher is not the authoritative and direct figure head in a constructivist classroom. Rather than fill my student's head with facts, I have always like the idea of guiding them to knowledge and acting as a mediator in lessons. I will definitely be using this theory in the future.
Battelle for Kids is a non-profit organization whose goal is to reach all students and empower educators with the help of the community and school system. Their mission is to use 21st century skills to meet this goal. This non-profit believes that education is the foundation for creating equality and inclusivity within society. The 21st century themes that this organization targets are life and career skills, learning and innovation skills, and information, media, and technology skills. Each of these themes can be met through standards and assessments, curriculum and instruction, professional development, and learning environments. As a future secondary teacher, I believe this is a great organization to partner with. I really liked how they emphasized their support for students and for educators. Partners of P21 have access to lessons, conferences, research, and are allowed the opportunity to network with other P21 leaders and educators. Their plan is to transform communities and school systems in order to provide the best learning environment and education to students. I think this is a great plan, and I would definitely be interested in joining this organization when I have my own classroom. Students and educators need a safe, inclusive, and equal environment to learn and teach in. This program targets all of the factors by starting outside of the classroom and working their way in. Battelle for Kid's strategic plan can completely chnage the education world. This would be an amazing program to be a part of.
